Welcome to Salina Cruz Surf Camp. Located in the state of Oaxaca Mexico, we are an adventure surfing outpost next to the world’s best right hand sand point breaks. Our base camp, also known as Casa El Mirador was established in 1999 as the area’s first surf camp — and is still 100% locally owned and operated.
Originally, the city of Salina Cruz was best know for its fishing port. Now it has become the most important industrial center in Oaxaca — and in recent years, it’s gained international recognition for its world-class waves. The nearest airport is located about 2 hours away in the beautiful city of Huatulco. Between Salina Cruz and Huatulco, there are around 17 surf spots, giving us options based on swell, wind, and tides.
The area is also well-known for excellent fishing and diving, thanks to crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life — including tuna, mahi mahi, turtles, and dolphins.
Casa Mirador, our home bas, is located on one of the highest hills in Salina Cruz. From here, you’ll enjoy open ocean views, cool breezes, and a relaxed atmosphere designed for surfers who want comfort, privacy, and a well-organized trip.
Our experience is built around guided surf trips. Each day, we take you to the best waves available using a 4x4 vehicle and an experienced local guide who understands tides, winds, and conditions. No crowds, no guesswork—just the right spot for the day.

Casa Mirador began as a dream. César Ramírez is the founder and creator of what Casa el Mirador is today. What started in 1999 as the first surf camp in the area has grown naturally over the years, shaped by passion, hard work, and deep local roots. Today, César and Lidia lead the project together, guiding Casa el Mirador with the same values it was built on from the start: respect, simplicity, and genuine hospitality.
Our staff — César, Lidia, Teo, Toño, and Janet — are family and locals who call this place home and genuinely enjoy welcoming guests. When you arrive at Casa Mirador, you’re not checking into a hotel. You’re stepping into a home — built around trust, shared meals, ocean time, and the love of surfing.
